As 2015 draws to a close, we wanted to take a look back at the images that helped define our year on the Central Coast.
It was a year of fire, storms, protests and tragic loss, with few shining moments. So as we head into 2016, we have selected some images that show not only the dark side of 2015, but also the amazing community spirit of the Central Coast as they come together in times of need.
A special thank you to our emergency services, who spent the year looking after us, and of course to the Central Coast Community for sharing their images with us.
Footage has surfaced of a vicious family brawl which ended with a man being struck across the face with a plank of wood.
In the video, two teenage boys, believed to be brothers and both armed with wooden planks, confront a 24 year old man on a Killarney Vale Street on Sunday 20th December.
The victim, believed to be a relative of the boys, sustained a large gash on his forehead and a broken nose. It is unclear what started the altercation.
‘A 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy have both been charged with assault and affray charges. They have reportedly been granted conditional bail and are due to appear before a children's court in January.
Footage of today's rescue of the whale calf caught in nets at Soldiers Beach.
A rescue team from the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service arrived on scene at midday and managed to free the calf, despite intrusions from its protective mother.
Well done to all involved in the rescue.
