Police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash in Mannering Park on the state’s Central Coast this afternoon.
Shortly after 1pm (Tuesday 29 March 2016), emergency services were called to Ruttleys Road, near the intersection of Vales Road, following reports of a crash.
Initial investigations suggest a Toyota Corolla was travelling north-west on Rutleys Road, when it left the roadway and crashed into a ditch.
The driver, a man believed to be aged in his 70s, died at the scene.
The passenger - a woman also believed to be aged in her 70s - was treated at the scene by Ambulance Paramedics before being airlifted by Westpac Helicopter to John Hunter Hospital with serious injuries.
Ruttleys Road was closed for several hours in both directions as investigations took place.
Investigations are continuing and a report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
This is the 5th fatality on Central Coast roads this year.
