Club manager doused in petrol during armed hold up

A manager at a local club was doused in petrol after being threatened with a knife during an armed hold up last night.

Just before 10.30pm last night, (Sunday 24th July, 2016) the duty manager of the Shelly Beach Golf Club was walking to his car on Shelley Beach Road, when he was approached by a man who grabbed him from behind and threatened him with a knife.
The manager was then ordered back inside the club,  where he was then doused in petrol, before the offender threatened to set him on fire if he was not given cash.

The victim handed over a sum of money before he was tied up and covered in more petrol.

The offender then fled the scene in the victim’s Ford Ranger, which has since been recovered.

It was reported that the manager was able to break free and called the police.

Officers attached to Tuggerah Lakes Local Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.

Police would like to speak to man who is described as 178cm tall, large build. He was last seen wearing black long pants, dark hooded top, a balaclava and gloves.

Anyone with any information is urged to contact Wyong Police Station on 02 4356 6099.
