Five arrested after brawl.

Five people have been arrested after a brawl at Umina early yesterday.

At about 3am on Sunday 17th January, 2016,  patrolling police came across a small brawl outside a residence in Umina Beach.  The officers stopped to check on the welfare of one of the females,  with two other women running off when they saw the police.

A number of people then exited a nearby residence,  with one pushing past police and attempting to assault the victim again.   Officers attempted to calm the situation with a brawl erupting, some attacking officers and a number of others hindering Police.

Police utilised OC spray and batons to control the situation, while protecting the victim and themselves during the incident.  A number of people  were arrested and officers were also injured during the incident, with the female civilian victim being transported to Gosford Hospital with a suspected fractured jaw.

Five people were subsequently arrested and conveyed to Gosford Police Station where they were charged respectively with:

A 37year old woman from Ettalong beach was charged with  1 count Resist or hinder police in execution of duty, 1 count Assault officer in execution of duty and 1 count Affray.
A 37 year old Nyngan man was charged with  1 count Resist or hinder police in execution of duty and 1 count Assault officer in execution of duty.
A 14 year old Woy Woy girl was charged with 1 count Resist or hinder police officer in the execution of duty, 1 count Assault officer in execution of duty and 1 count Assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
A 17 year old Umina Beach girl was charged with  1 count Assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
A 19 year old Wyoming man was charged with  1 count Use offensive language in/near public place and 1 count Resist or hinder police officer in the execution of duty.

The three older persons were released on bail and are to appear before Woy Woy Local Court on the 16th February, with the two younger teens also released on bail and will appear before Woy Woy Childrens Court on 12th February.
