Inquiries continue into fatal crash

Inquiries are continuing after a fatal crash at Blue Haven yesterday. 

About 2.20pm (Tuesday 10 January 2017), four cars – a Holden Astra, a Volkswagen Polo, an Audi A4 and a Holden Commodore – collided at the intersection of Motorway Link Road and Blue Haven Way, Blue Haven. 

The driver of the Volkswagen, a 20-year-old woman, died at the scene. 

Her passenger, a 34-year-old woman, was taken to John Hunter Hospital, where she remains in a critical but stable condition. 

The driver of the Astra, a 78-year-old man, and the driver of the Audi, a 47-year-old woman were also taken to John Hunter Hospital. The woman has since been released. 

The driver of the Commodore, a 25-year-old man, was not injured. He was taken to hospital for mandatory testing. 

Officers from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit are investigating the incident and are urging any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police to come forward.
