A man has been airlifted to hospital with suspected spinal injuries after falling three metres from a balcony.

Paramedics were called to the Empire Bay property earlier this afternoon and assessed the man before calling in Careflight's rapid response helicopter.

The chopper landed at a nearby oval at around 3.30pm  and NSW Ambulance transported the patient from the scene to the chopper.  There they were met by CareFlight’s specialist doctor and intensive care paramedic.

The medical crew assessed and treated the patient on scene before airlifting him to Royal North Shore Hospital in a stable condition.
