A man will face court next month after allegedly indecently assaulting a young girl on the Central Coast last week.
Just after 8am on Monday 12 December 2016, a 12-year-old girl was waiting for a bus on Walker Avenue, Kanwal, when she was approached by an unknown man who indecently assaulted her.
When the girl attempted to leave the area, the man grabbed her arm. She elbowed him and broke free before the man fled the area.
Police from Tuggerah Lakes Local Area Command responded and an investigation was commenced by the State Crime Command's Child Abuse Squad, The Entrance.
As a result of their inquiries, a search warrant was executed at a home at Kanwal about 3.15pm yesterday (Tuesday 20 December 2016), where a number of items of clothing were seized.
A 35-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to Wyong Police Station.
He was charged with aggravated indecent assault and granted strict conditional bail to appear at Wyong Local Court on Wednesday18 January 2017.
The Child Abuse Squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate crimes against children, including sexual assault, physical abuse and serious cases of neglect.
