Man charged over firearm and drug offences

A man has been charged after police seized guns, drugs, and ammunition at a home in Gosford yesterday afternoon. 

About 3.40pm (Wednesday 20 July 2016), officers from Brisbane Water Local Area Command stopped a man riding a bicycle outside a home on Donnison Street. 

The 37-year-old man was arrested and searched, with police allegedly locating two rounds of ammunition on him. 

Following his arrest, officers executed a search warrant at a home on Donnison Street where they allegedly located a shotgun, a homemade silencer, two firearm scopes, various ammunition, an amount of drugs believed to be cannabis, and other items. 

All items were seized and will undergo forensic examinations. 

The man was taken to Gosford Police Station where he was charged with possess prohibited firearm, possess ammunition, and possess prohibited drugs. 

He was refused bail and is due to appear at Gosford Local Court today.
