P Plater caught doing double speed limit

A 24 year old Woy Woy male will appear at Gosford Local Court after being caught doing more than twice the speed limit at Green Point on Friday.

At about 10.05pm on Friday 15th July,  Brisbane Water Highway Police observed the man travelling well in excess of the sign posted 60kph speed limit.   At the time, officers estimated the speed of the accused to be no less than 100kph and no more than 120kph. Police turned around and subsequently caught up to the vehicle, checking his speed to be no less than 130kph in the 60kph area.   Police eventually pulled the car over and removed the keys from the ignition.

Officers spoke with the man regarding his speed and instantly noticed that he appeared to be well affected by alcohol. He was subsequently subjected to a roadside breath test which returned a positive result.

He was then placed under arrest and conveyed to Gosford Police Station where he underwent a breath analysis, which returned a mid range reading. He was subsequently charged with, one count Drive with mid range PCA – 2nd offence, one count Class A motor vehicle exceed speed over 45 km/h and one count Not comply P2 licence condition, not display P plates.

He is due to appear at Gosford Local Court on the 26th July, 2016
