Woman charged over alleged stabbing at Umina Beach

A woman will face court today charged over the alleged stabbing of another woman at Umina Beach yesterday.

About 2.30pm (Tuesday 1 December 2015), a 39-year-old woman was at a home in Springwood Street, when she was confronted by a 43-year-old woman.

It’s alleged the older woman stabbed the younger woman in the arm with a box cutter knife before leaving.

Emergency services were called and the injured woman was taken to Gosford Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

About 11.50pm the same day, police were again called to the same home after reports the same woman had returned to the home.

When police arrived, a short foot pursuit ensued. It will be alleged in court the woman threatened police with a box cutter knife, before OC spray was used and the woman was arrested.

She was subsequently charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, intimidation and assault police.

The woman was refused bail to appear before Gosford Local Court today (Wednesday 2 December 2015).
